The ceremony preceded the boys varsity game; Wildcats defeated Virginia 3-0

It was a tear-filled afternoon at the Eagan Civic Arena as hundreds came to honor Carter Weber and support the Weber family. Carter was a former defenseman on the Varsity team who died tragically in November.  Current and former teammates, who played with Carter through the years, lined the ice shoulder to shoulder during the 10-minute tribute, which included a jersey dedication, a video commemorating Carter’s life and an official renaming of the Eagan Youth Hockey tournament to the Carter Weber Memorial Cup.

After the ceremony, the Varsity team took to the ice defeating Virginia 3-0. Shots were 51 to 11 in favor of the Wildcats. The first period was scoreless despite the lopsided shots on net. Senior defense Tim Yetzer put the Cats on the board first with a rip from the blueline. Assist from Jake Burke. Then later in the second period sophomore forward Drew Wilson fired in a powerplay goal with an assist from sophomore defense Jonah Miklya. Eagan’s final tally came in the third period with a goal from sophomore forward Nick Sherek on a pass from senior forward Tyler Boor.
