The Eagan arena was packed to the brim for Thursday night's 1st section playoff game against the rivals from the south. In attendance was a finely dressed ESPN crew (aka B.O.T.G.) to capture the game highlights for the world to see.
The teams would go scoreless halfway through the game until sophomore forward Nick Sherek put the Cats on the board in the second period on an assist from sophomore defense Jonah Miklya.
With less than two minutes left in the game, Rosemount tied it up at 1 a piece. That score would stand sending the game into a tense overtime. Both teams traded shots for the first 7 minutes of a fast-paced 4th period. In dramatic fashion, with just 21.7 seconds left in OT, sophomore Keegan Johnson tapped in the game winner on a precision placed shot from senior defense Trevor Miklya off the pads of Rosemount's goalie. 2-1 Eagan.
No one can dispute the player of the game, Jeremy Manzella, who had an unbelievable performance. The senior netminder turned away 45 shots, including several breakaways, to shut down the Irish attack.
