Meiers Gets Two Goals including the Game-Winner in OT

Eagan hit the road for their season opener against Park Cottage Grove in an exciting game filled with hits, penalties and an extra inning. Putting the Cats on the board first was sophomore forward Cole Gibson at about 5 minutes into the contest. Assisting him would be senior forward Cole Peplinski and junior defense Jack Mason. The Wolfpack would tie it up right before the end of the 1st period.

The second period was scoreless. Early in the 3rd sophomore forward Jonny Meiers had a sweet move to put Eagan back on top at 2-1, unassisted. But the celebration was short-lived as Cottage Grove would tie it up about a minute later. Regulation ended all tied up.

The game hero in OT was Jonny Meiers batting in a rebound off of junior forward Nick Sherek’s shot. 3-2 wildcats. Senior netminder Brandon Touissant had 20 saves for the Wildcats. Eagan had 48 shots for the night.
