Wildcats take one of the Tigers nine lives

The game begins with the Wildcats needing to get their legs going.  They had two minor penalties in the first five minutes for interference and too many men on the ice.  Fortunately they were able to kill off both penalties.  And something happened at about the eleventh minute of the first period.  The Wildcats began a scoring spree, just about every two minutes, that the Tigers seemed to not have a solution for.  The scoring went as follows:

     *  Goal #1: Senior Center, Michael Beneke, assisted by Junior Forward, Henry Reiff and Junior Defenseman, Aidan Byrne

     *  Goal #2: Junior Forward and Assistant Captain, Jonny Meiers, assisted by Senior Defensemen, Eli Dolney and Senior Center and Captain, Keegan Johnson

In an effort to slow down the Cats, the Tigers committed their first penalty of the game for hooking.  All this did was allow the Wildcats to get their third goal of the game.   The second of the game by Meiers and the assists go to Senior Forward, William Randall and Senior Forward and Captain, Nick Sherek.  As the first period action began to wind down Senior Forward, Cullen Myhre sneaks one past the Farmington goalie.  Myhre's goal was assisted by Keegan Johnson.

The 2nd period begins with the Wildcats up four to zero.  But instead of building pressure the Cats find themselves in the penalty box three separate times.  And not to be left out the Tigers go in the box as well.  After the flurry of penalties the Wildcats put in three goals in just three minutes.  The scoring goes as follows:

     *  Goal #5 by Keegan Johnson, assisted by Junior Defensemen and Assistant Captain, Max Meekin

     *  Goal #6  by Jonny Meiers (his 3rd of the game-a hat trick), assisted by Johnson

     *  Goal #7 by Nick Sherek, assisted by Meiers and Johnson (his 4th assist of the game)

About the only way that the Tigers can get on the score sheet was by committing yet another penalty which closes out the 2nd period with the Wildcats dominating 7-0.

The 3rd period starts in a similar fashion as the Cats go in the box with just six minutes gone by.  Except this time the Tigers capitalize on the man advantage and score while on the power-play.  The Wildcats tighten the reins  for the next few minutes but back in the box they go for interference. But the Wildcats hold and don't allow a score.  But just as Eagan gets to even strength the Tigers manage to get one by the Wildcat goaltender.  The tigers try to press but the final buzzer sounds and the Wildcats with a convincing win seven to two.  Once again Manzella has a solid game and saves 19 of 21 shots while getting the win.  The Wildcats next game is against Top 10 ranked Lakeville North on the 18th at 7pm at Ames Arena in Lakeville.
