Domination from initial puck drop to the final horn

Based purely on previous records this game should be one that the Wildcats could dominate.  But, you never know who is going to show up when its time to drop the puck.  Fortunately for the Wildcats the properly prepared team showed up at the rink.  And from the drop of the puck the dominating zone time and shots on goal was foreshadowing of  how this game would go.  With four minutes gone the Eagles ended up in the penalty box and the Wildcats got on the board on their power-play.  Goal scored by Senior Center and Captain, Keegan Johnson.  Assisted by Junior Forward and Assistant Captain Jonny Meiers and Junior Defenseman and Assistant Captain, Max Meekin.  Wildcats up one to nothing.  Then just five minutes later the Wildcats get another opportunity on the power play and take full advantage.  This time its Jonny Meiers with the goal.  Assists going to Junior Forward, Henry Reiff and Max Meekin.  Just as that Penalty is released, Senior Defenseman, Matthew Bergom gets the goal.  Assisted by Senior Forward and Captain, Nick Sherek.  Wildcats are up three to nothing.  Eagan capitalizes on both Eagle penalties while shutting down Apple Valley on their two power plays.  At the end of the first it's the Wildcats three and the Eagles nothing.  Eagan out-shot Apple Valley sixteen to four.

At the beginning of the second period Eagan began by pressing hard once again.  Dominating with zone time and taking lots of quality shots.  Then with nearly five minutes gone in the second period, a goal by Nick Sherek.  Assists going to Jonny Meiers and Senior Defenseman, Jack Mason.  After trading a penalty back and forth Apple Valley manages to get on the score-sheet.  The only remaining action in the period is a minor elbowing penalty by the Eagles which is uneventful.  So, at the end of the second period it's the Wildcats four and the Eagles one.  Eagan out-shot the Eagles twenty-four to three.

The third period mirrors the first on the scoreboard and the goal tally is as follows:

     *  Scoring:  Nick Sherek - Assisted by Jonny Meiers and Jack Mason

     *  Scoring:  Keegan Johnson - Assisted by Junior Forward, Henry Reiff and Max Meekin (his 3rd of the game)

     *  Scoring: Junior Center, Cole Gibson - Assisted by Jonny Meiers (his 3rd of the game)

It was obvious that Apple Valley was beginning to get frustrated.  During the period the Eagles committed four penalties to Eagan's two.  And at the end of the third period it's the Wildcats seven and the Eagles one.  Eagan out-shot Apple Valley, ten to four.  Manzella was solid in the net by saving ten of eleven shots and he gets the win.  The Wildcats next game is Saturday the 19th vs Burnsville at 7pm.
