Eagan vs Duluth Marshall

After a nice long ride up to Duluth from the Twin Cities, one might think that the Wildcats will need some time to get their legs.  But just six minutes after the drop of the puck, Junior Center, Cole Gibson gets one past the goal tender.  Assists going to Junior Forward, Henry Reiff and Senior Forward, Cullen Myhere.  The lead is short lived as Marshall gets their own goal just three minutes later.  It ends up being a period dominated by Eagan and only one penalty by Duluth.  The Wildcats out-shoot Duluth thirteen to five and the score is tied at one a piece.

The second period has a slightly different feel as Marshall has picked up their game considerably.  But just three minutes into the period Myhre gets one past the goalie.  Assists going to Gibson and Reiff.  Marshall does not look beat down and responds four minutes later with a goal of their own. and then two minutes later they knock one in the Eagan goal to go up by one.  Fortunately Myhre is feeling it tonight and before the end of the second period he gets his second goal of the game assisted by Gibson.  At the end of the second period things are all tied up at three.  In that period Marshall out-shot Eagan fourteen to twelve.

At the start of the third period Eagan comes out a bit more business like and gets back to putting pressure on the goalie.  No scoring in the first half of the period but just over eight minutes gone by it's Senior Forward and Assistant Captain, Jonny Meiers with the goal.  Assist going to Junior Defenseman and Assistant Captain, Max Meekin.  And then nearly two minutes later its Senior Center and Captain, Keegan Johnson with the goal.  Assists going to Junior Defenseman, Aidan Byrne and Meiers.  That puts a cap on this tilt and Eagan out-shoots Marshall ten to seven in the final period.  Manzella was tested a bit tonight but he stands tall and gets the win after saving twenty-three of twenty-six shots.  And Manzella gets the win.  Next game for the Wildcats is tomorrow night against powerhouse Duluth East at 5pm at the Heritage Center, Sill Arena.
