All Good Things Must End

Things have been looking up since the out of town games

Earlier in the season the Wildcats took care of business against the Irish and made it look pretty easy.....and lopsided.  However, this evening promises to be a different game.  The Irish have  taken care of loose ends since the Wildcats have last seen them.  As a matter of fact the Irish have found themselves a top ten team in the state.  And as I said earlier, this evening  promises to be a different game.  This was obvious from the drop of the puck.  Eagan was working hard but having issue getting out of their own zone and shots on goal were lopsided in not such a good way.  Penalties in the first period were even at two a piece so Eagan could not blame their usual weakness of that dreaded penalty box.   So the early scoring would go to the Irish as they get the games first goal with five minutes gone in the first period and then the second goal of the game with ten minutes gone in the period.  The Wildcats are down by two after one....and to add insult to injury are getting out-shot eleven to five.

As the second period begins there is no doubt that the Wildcats sorted some things out while in the locker room.   Not only did the Wildcats stay out of the box in the 2nd period but they get on the score sheet with seven minutes gone by in the second.  It's Senior Defenseman turned Forward, Jack Mason with the snipe to make it a two to one game.  The lone assist going to Junior Center and Assistant Captain, Jonny Meiers.  But unfortunately at the eleven and fourteen minute marks the  Irish get two goals back in their favor.  At the end of the second period it's the Irish with four and the Wildcats with one.  On a better note, the Wildcats did out-shoot the Irish eighteen to nine.

As the third period begins the Wildcats seem to have made the proper adjustments once again.  And with just under two minutes gone by, once again it's Mason with the goal to cut the Irish lead in half.  Mason's goal was assisted by Junior Center and Assistant Captain, Jonny Meiers and Senior Forward and Captain, Keegan Johnson.  Both teams manage to stay out of the box but unfortunately the only team getting on the score sheet before the final buzzer is the Irish just under the fifteen minute mark.  So the Cats split the series with the Irish and take a loss by the score of five to two.  In the third the Wildcats were out-shot ten to five.   Manzella played a solid game between the pipes and stopped twenty-five of thirty shots and gets the loss.  The next game for the Wildcats is Tuesday the 12th at 7pm in Shakopee.
