Blaze have the Wildcats number

Over the past few years the Wildcats have struggled in games against The Blaze.  Home or Away, the struggle and result has been the same.  But the season is new and anything can happen.  The first period did not disappoint.  Both teams had eight shots on goal with none getting through on either goal tender.  Eagan with two minor penalties and Burnsville with one minor penalty.  All three successfully killed off without goals.

Just 47 seconds into the second period the action began to pick-up.  Fans were not even in their seats yet but Senior Forward and Captain, Nick Sherek scores the first goal of the game.  Assisted by Junior Center and Assistant Captain, Jonny Meiers and Senior Forward and Captain, Keegan Johnson.  Unfortunately for the Wildcats, in the next fourteen minutes the Blaze would score twice.  As the scoring picked up so would the hitting.  Eagan took two, 2-minute minors to Burnsville's one.  Those penalties resulted in no goals as the second period comes to a close with the Cats down two to one.

The third period begins with Eagan on the power play but just 27 seconds into the penalty Burnsville tips a pass and goes down and scores one short-handed to go up 3-1 Burnsville.  With the most dangerous lead in hockey Burnsville commits back to back  two minute minors.  Finally, during the second power-play Eagan Senior Forward, Cullen Myhre hits the back of the net.  Assists go to Meiers and Sherek.  With just a couple minutes remaining and being down 3-2 the Wildcats pull Manzella, the Junior Net-minder from the net.  The Wildcats move the puck well and have a few quality shots but none that get past their Keeper.  And at 16:46 in the 3rd period the Blaze put the dagger in with an empty net goal.  Burnsville is victorious 4-2 at the buzzer.  Next game for the Wildcats will be against Cloquet-Esko-Carlton on the 8th at the Tria Ice Rink in downtown St. Paul.  Puck drop will be at 7:30pm.
